Maureen is a beloved voice in Lebanese-Mediterranean cooking, known for her beautiful recipes, heartfelt storytelling, and the way she brings people together through food. Her mission is simple: to help us cook, bake, gather, and enjoy—with dishes that work, ingredients that inspire, and traditions that connect us.
Her path has taken her from Michigan to culinary school in San Francisco, from freelance food writing to building a vibrant community at MaureenAbood.com. Her first cookbook, Rose Water & Orange Blossoms, became an instant favorite in Lebanese-American kitchens and continues to be shared from one family to another.
Her new book, Lebanese Baking, is a true labor of love, preserving the recipes and rituals of Lebanese home baking.
Join us to meet Maureen, hear the stories behind her recipes, have your book signed, and enjoy tastes from the book prepared by the Sofra team—like Manakeesh with za’atar and cheese, pita and arayes and coconut semolina cake. She’ll also share a quick demo of one of her favorites—millionaire ma’amoul.
Each ticket includes a copy of the book.

All of our cooking classes are held in our Allston location and are demonstration-style. Our chefs will do the cooking and baking and you will get to do the eating and drinking—and we'll send you home with all of the recipes from class!
